The overall leading cause of death among Maine women is Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), yet many women are still unaware of this fact. The Maine CDC/DHHS Cardiovascular Health Program works collaboratively with the Maine Cardiovascular Health Council’s Women and Heart Health Committee to increase public awareness and knowledge of

- The major risk factors for CVD
- The importance of knowing the symptoms of heart attack and stroke and the need to call 911
